We set high expectations for each student and design the experiences and support they need to succeed.

Teacher Jason Gable working with a student

SLP is known for its innovation and student centered focus. I want to challenge my students to look outside the box and rely on their own skills, imagination and problem solving skills to create solutions to the problems set before them.

Westwood is a special place because the teachers take the time to get to know the students. Westwood works together to bring both the academic learning to students in the four core areas of reading, math, science and social studies while providing opportunities for students to make choices about their learning with the electives and specialists. We also focus on working with students on the life skills they will need to be successful in high school - organization, time management, working with others, communication. This is done by having students on teams where the teachers know the students well.
