About Us

Westwood Intermediate and Middle School offers elementary and middle school programming under one roof in a safe, supportive environment.

There are separate programs, spaces and schedules for intermediate students in grades 5-6 and middle school students in grades 7-8. During their years at Westwood, Spring Lake Park Schools' approach to personalized learning helps support students in developing into self-directed learners. They continue to build strong foundations and also start to make more of their own decisions about their learning.

Spanish immersion programming, STEM and career and college pathways electives, band, choir and a variety of activities and athletics help students discover and go deeper with their emerging interests and passions. During their 8th grade year, students develop their first 4-year learner map, based on their goals and interests, to guide their high school experience and beyond.

Students:

  • More than 1,800 students in grades 5-8

  • More than 350 students in Spanish Immersion programming

  • Home to students in the Quest and Journey programs

  • Students on teams for their core courses - English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies - to help make a big school feel smaller and help teachers more deeply know their students

  • Science Specialists (Grades 5-6)

  • Courses offering high school credit in middle school

  • AVID elective (to build study skills and college prep)

  • Junior Panther Mentors
