A fun way to wrap up August: the first day of school for most Spring Lake Park Schools students on August 31! Across the district, students greeted the 2026-2027 school year with smiles, reunions and the excitement of new beginnings. Long before students walked through the doors, staff were already hard at work preparing for the year ahead.

Spring wrapped up another great season of highlights, successes and triumphs for Panther athletics and activities. With six spring girls’ sports, seven spring boys’ sports and more than 50 student-based interest clubs and co-curricular activities at Spring Lake Park High School, our Panthers made us proud. Spring Lake Park Schools held its annual retirement reception on May 12 to honor and recognize the staff members who retired during the 2025-2026 school year or are retiring at the end of the school year.

Fourth graders are experimenting with pinwheel turbines during science. They are testing two methods to generate energy, wind power and hydropower. They make guesses – hypothesize. Then they work in small groups through timed experiments. This is science, as a specialist class, in elementary school.

The "Live on 65" performance series will close its 2025-26 season with The Suits, a Broadway-level musical show with a talented cast of singers. Join us on Monday, May 11, at 7 p.m. in the Spring Lake Park High School Fine Arts Center. Enjoy an evening of Motown, Doo Wop, Pop, and Rock genres. It's four gentlemen, four genres, over four decades!

A day at school rarely unfolds exactly as planned. Schedules, lessons, and routines are in place – but within minutes plans can shift. A student may arrive overwhelmed. Another might need encouragement to step off the bus. A third could surprise everyone with an unexpected breakthrough. School staff understand this is part of the job. No one knows that better than a paraprofessional.

The school board has approved the academic calendar for the 2027–2028 school year.

The Panther Foundation’s annual Week of Giving and Panther Party raised $145,000 and counting to support activities and programs benefiting the students of Spring Lake Park Schools.
