Counseling

At Westwood, students start to discover long-term interests and think about the future as they manage the academic and social aspects of the transition years of intermediate and middle school. Counselors are here to help.

Our counseling team supports the student experience and overall well-being of students with academic planning and support for each student’s social, emotional and behavioral growth and development.

At Westwood, students start to discover their interests and explore a variety of paths for the future. Counselors meet with each student to discuss courses and extracurricular activities that might align with their interests. In these meetings, students start to think about their goals. This lays the framework for each student to create a 4-year plan to help guide their learning into high school.

Our counseling team works proactively to improve student behavior and attendance, encourage healthy choices and create a positive learning environment. When students encounter challenges, counselors work with families to identify the steps to take to help each student succeed and feel positive about their school experience.  When students need something more than their counselor can provide, we work with families to identify resources outside our school.
